VA Work Study Program
We are looking for a few good workers!
What is the VA Work Study program?
The VA Work Study program allows students an additional opportunity to earn funds to help with extra expenses while attending school by working at a VA-approved worksite. K-State has 2 approved offices on the Manhattan campus. This is an education benefit, not wages. Students using this program are paid directly by the VA.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible if you're training in a college degree, vocational, or professional program at least three-quarter time. You can receive a work-study allowance (in addition to your education benefits) based on the number of hours of work you perform. A work-study allowance is available under most educational assistance programs administered by VA.
How much can I earn?
At Kansas State University, the pay rate is $7.25 per hour. Please note that this is not considered wages, and no taxes will be taken out. You will be paid directly by the VA and not through the university.
When can I work?
Two offices on our Manhattan campus are approved for our VA work study students to work in: the Office of Veteran Affairs (OVA) and the Military Affiliated Resource Center (MARC). The OVA office hours are Monday–Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The MARC is open throughout the week with a possibility of some evenings.
How can I apply for a position?
You must complete the VA Application for Work Study Allowance form. Once the form is completed with your signature, please upload to our secure document upload portal. We will contact you for an interview to determine the best fit for you.
