Alert - Chapter 35 Recipients
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) experienced a software issue that has hindered the processing of Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) payments. This issue happened in September prior to the federal government shutdown and affected more than 75,000 students nationwide.
The Office of Vetern Affairs at K-State believe that the majority of students affected have received payments by now. If you have not, please contact the Education Hotline at 888-442-4551 to find out the status of your account.
The Office of Vetern Affairs have been asked by the Department of Veteran Affairs to have our Chapter 35 students make sure that their contact information is up to date. Please go to VA.gov to log into your account to make sure all of your information is correct. If you need to make any changes, you can use Ask VA Website or call the Education Hotline.
The Office of Veteran Affairs at K-State continues to work with other campus offices to help students who are being impacted by this issue. If you are experiencing financial hardship due to this issue and/or it is affecting your Spring 2026 enrollment, we encourage you to complete the Office of Student Financial Assistance’s Emergency Referral Application. Note that you are a Chapter 35 recipient and how the government shutdown has impacted your financial situation. You can also contact our office in person at 207 Anderson Hall, call us at 785-532-7061 or email us at veteran@ksu.edu.
If you are using another benefit chapter and have experienced a partial amount or a delay in your payment, please call the Education Hotline to discuss your account and status.
