Switch Grass, Panicum Virgatum ‘Prairie Sky’

Example of Prairie Sky

Full Sun, Warm-season

A different variety of Switch Grass with light blue foliage. Does not get as tall as some of the other cultivars, and is very drought tolerant.

This cultivar had a disappointing second year. It grew fine during the summer, but it just fell apart after flowering. While the other Switch Grasses remained vertical, ‘Prairie Sky’ totally flopped over and turned brown by September, making it very unsightly.
