Student Research Opportunities Fair today

Submitted by Tom Roesler

Explore research, scholarship and discovery as an undergraduate student at one of the country’s leading public research universities while earning a scholarship.

The College of Arts and Sciences is hosting a Student Research Opportunities Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the Coffman Commons, between Eisenhower Hall and Hale Library. Representatives from more than 20 departments within the college will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about how students can get involved with the undergraduate research program and the student research travel program.

From laboratories to libraries, the fair will showcase a wide range of scholarly activities and discovery opportunities in the College of Arts and Sciences, the university's largest college.

"Many of our graduates who have had successful professional careers got their start with undergraduate research in the College of Arts and Sciences," said Beth Montelone, College of Arts and Sciences associate dean of research. "We hope to make this opportunity available to many more of our students in the future. Please come by and learn about the options!”

Students who are interested will have the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member to hone their research interests and make a contribution to the field. They will also be able to network with researchers at conferences to present findings. This is a chance to help stand out when searching for a career, applying to graduate or professional school.

Free lemonade and cookies will also be provided.
