Submitted by Abby Johnson

Applications are open for Blue Key Honor Society and Mortar Board Senior Honor Society. Both organizations emphasize excellence in scholarship, dedication to service and achievement in leadership.

On the K-State campus, Mortar Board allocates scholarship money to fellow students, promotes professional development, directs events such as free balloon day, faculty recognition, Mortar Board Week and Reading is Leading, and organizes multiple service projects each year. Blue Key is involved in facilitating the Catalyst Self-Development Program, Quest Freshman Honorary, LeadX workshops and other personal and professional development events, like Evening of Etiquette and the universitywide leadership appreciation reception.

Applicants for Blue Key must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, achieve senior status by fall 2024 — 90 hours — and be an on-campus student for both semesters of the 2024-2025 school year.

To apply for Blue Key, please access the online application. Applications for Blue Key must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, to be considered.

Applicants for Mortar Board must have the following: a cumulative GPA of 3.0, at least 75 credit hours completed by Jan. 1, 2024, and a commitment to Mortar Board activities throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, August through May. To self-nominate to be a member of Mortar Board, please access the online form. Self-nominations for Mortar Board must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 16, to be considered.
