The Chapman Center for Rural Studies invites students, faculty, staff and the public to its fourth Digitization Day event from 1-3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Americus Township Library at 710 Main St. in Americus.

Participants will get a chance to digitally preserve old photos, documents and other items using the center's skills and special equipment. Flash drives to digitally store your memories will be provided to the first 20 guests. You may also bring your own form of storage if preferred. A trained member of the center will be on-site to teach and assist with the digitization process, and each visitor can digitize up to 15 items. Staff will also be available to answer questions about scanning and digital preservation.

The Chapman Center for Rural Studies is a digital humanities research lab and center for excellence in the College of Arts and Sciences. Its mission is to research, preserve and share the history and lived experiences of rural Kansas. It accomplishes this through undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects, building partnerships with the K-State community, and engaging a rich network of historical museums and public history organizations in Kansas.

To reserve your space for the event, please RSVP to chapmancenter@k-state.edu or 785-532-0380 by Thursday, Dec. 7.
