Retirement reception to celebrate Professor John Tomich's academic and scientific career

Submitted by Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics

The biochemistry and molecular biophysics department and friends are celebrating the academic and scientific career of Professor John Tomich at a retirement reception to be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in the K-State Student Union's Wildcat Chamber, formerly the Little Theater.

Refreshments will be served at 2 p.m. with remarks to begin at 2:30 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity to express appreciation for Tomich's contributions to the department and the fields of biochemistry, biophysics, proteomics and nanotechnology. Faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to attend.

Tomich has been an integral part of the academic community, leaving an indelible mark through his groundbreaking research, specifically with the development of the branched amphiphilic peptide capsules, or BACPs, a revolutionary class of nanocarriers ingeniously engineered from the sequence of a naturally occurring protein. The significance of BAPCs extends far and wide, as they have demonstrated the potential to significantly enhance the efficacy and delivery of vaccines, cancer therapies and biopesticides.

Tomich's commitment to innovation has not only inspired those within our institution but has also left a profound impact on a wider scientific community and students.

If you cannot attend in person, a Zoom option will be available.
