Kansas State University junior Amy Truong, a marketing major, was awarded a $5,000 Resonance Scholarship by Signal Theory, in partnership with The BrandLab. Two scholarships are awarded annually and are a component of how The BrandLab KC promotes progress toward more equitable standards in advertising and marketing.

"The Resonance Scholarship is part of our opportunity pillar, as it allows participation in higher education opportunities that traditionally have not been as accessible to young people of color as to the dominant culture in the industry," said Kelli Williams, CEO of The BrandLab.

Truong is from Overland Park and a graduate of Blue Valley Northwest High School. An exceptional student, Truong is advancing toward her marketing degree while also earning certificates in marketing technology and data analytics. She is a member of the K-State Women in Business organization and Tri-Alpha, the National Honor Society for first-generational college students.

"We're looking forward to helping Amy explore her path forward in the marketing and advertising industry," said John January, co-CEO of Signal Theory.

The BrandLab is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to change the face and voice of the marketing and advertising industry. The BrandLab seeks to empower young people from multicultural backgrounds to launch thriving careers in creative and inclusive workplaces. It focuses on four pillars of sustainable career development: exposure, access, opportunity and equity.
