Graduate Student Appreciation Week kicks off today

K-State's campuswide Graduate Student Appreciation Week is April 3-7. Initiated by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students, Graduate Student Appreciation Week is celebrated the first week of April each year.

In appreciation for their dedicated service and contributions to teaching, research, scholarship, leadership and service, K-State will recognize graduate students with activities this week, with additional events scheduled throughout the month of April.

Below is a list of planned activities to recognize K-State's graduate students, but graduate students may be informed about other activities from their colleges, departments or programs.

All week April 3-7:

  • The K-State Olathe campus will offer coffee and snacks around class times throughout the week.

Monday, April 3:

  • The College of Veterinary Medicine Graduate Student Association will host a catered breakfast for graduate students from 9- 10:30 a.m. in the Mara Conference Center.

Tuesday, April 4:

  • The Graduate School will host the monthly Grad Coffee Chat from noon to 1 p.m. in 118 Eisenhower Hall. Coffee and treats will be provided.
  • K-State Olathe will have a photographer available from 4-6 p.m. for graduate students to take a professional portrait. Come get your photos taken in the hallway near Room 227.
  • The College of Arts and Sciences will host a pizza party from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of Calvin Hall. ArtSci graduate students who attend could win a $500 prize for academic or conference costs. Gather with other grad students from the arts and sciences community to connect and make new friends while enjoying delicious pizza and drinks. Please use this link to RSVP.

Wednesday, April 5:

  • The College of Agriculture Graduate Student Awards and Recognition event will be at 4 p.m. in 137 Waters Hall. Master's and doctoral students will be recognized for excellence in research and undergraduate teaching, and a graduate faculty member will be recognized for exceptional graduate teaching.
  • The College of Health and Human Sciences will provide breakfast on the go from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in 301 Justin Hall and 233 Campus Creek Complex.

Friday, April 7:

  • The College of Veterinary Medicine will host an ice cream social for graduate students at 3 p.m. in the Boehringer Ingelheim Atrium.

Wednesday, April 12:

  • The College of Business Administration will host a Graduate Student Appreciation breakfast from 9-11 a.m. in 2001 Business Building.

Sunday, April 23:

  • The Office of the President will host a picnic for graduate students at 6 p.m. at McCain Auditorium. More details to come.

Thursday, April 27:

  • The Graduate Student Council will recognize graduate student awards, accomplishments and contributions to leadership and service for the academic year at the annual Graduate Student Awards and Recognition Reception at 5 p.m. in the K-State Alumni Center Banquet Room.
