Following a national search, Patrick Winter has been appointed as Kansas State University's executive director for recruitment and admissions, filling a key position on the university's enrollment management administrative team.

Winter, who has been serving as interim executive director for recruitment and admissions since October 2022, was appointed by Karen Goos, vice provost for enrollment management. His appointment will begin March 6.

"I am excited to add Patrick Winter to our enrollment management team permanently," Goos said. "He brings with him a long history of success at public research and land-grant institutions. His leadership experience around innovative recruitment initiatives, CRM development and setting and achieving enrollment goals will be invaluable as we take our next steps in elevating the university's reach and affinity with future Wildcats."

As executive director for recruitment and admissions, Winter will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic recruitment, admissions and yield initiatives for undergraduate recruitment and admissions. He will serve as a key leader for external recruitment, on-campus visitation, admissions evaluation, orientation and enrollment programs, competitive scholarship awarding and project management in support of the university's enrollment goals. Collaborating with the Division of Communications and Marketing, he will also assist in the development of marketing and communications to support recruitment and admission efforts.

Winter comes to K-State with more than 28 years of university admissions and enrollment management experience. He most recently served as the associate vice chancellor of academic services and enrollment management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Before joining the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Winter served as associate vice president of admissions and enrollment management at the University of Georgia for five years and senior associate director of undergraduate admissions from March 2006 to June 2015. Prior to these roles, Winter served as director of national recruitment at Tempe, Arizona, director of Carey MBA Admissions and assistant director.

"I'm thrilled to be joining K-State at such an exciting time for the institution," Winter said. "As the next-generation land-grant university, K-State plays a critical role in shaping the future through world-class research, learning and instruction. I am looking forward to welcoming the best and brightest students from Kansas and beyond to Manhattan."

Winter earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Arizona State University and a Master of Education in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University.
