Lafene Health Center offers bivalent booster for COVID-19 and flu vaccine

Submitted by Shawn Funk

Lafene Health Center has received an allotment of bivalent COVID-19 boosters. Supply is limited. Appointments for boosters can be scheduled through the myLAFENE+ patient portal or by calling 785-532-6544. Lafene Health Center continues to administer the Moderna COVID-19 primary vaccine series.

Lafene also offers flu vaccines for all students, faculty and staff. The cost of the flu vaccine is $25 for students and $27 for faculty and staff, which is covered by most insurance companies. Lafene will submit insurance claims on your behalf. Lafene has a very limited supply of the Fluzone high-dose quadrivalent that is recommended for individuals 65 years and older; however, Lafene is not part of the Medicaid or Medicare networks and will not file insurance claims to those entities. The cost for the quadrivalent flu vaccine is $75.

Don't let the flu affect your academic performance. Kansas State University is participating in the #KansasFightsFlu Collegiate Challenge, a campaign created by the Immunize Kansas Coalition, Kansas Healthcare Collaborative and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Colleges and universities across the state of Kansas will be competing to see which school has the highest number of students who receive the flu vaccine. Join the competition and get your flu vaccine today.

Contact Lafene Health Center at 785-532-6544 for questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, the bivalent booster or the flu vaccine.
