Union Program Council, or UPC, and Delta Upsilon fraternity will host the university’s inaugural Miss K-State competition at 8 p.m. tonight in the K-State Student Union Grand Ballroom. The event will enable organizations to represent themselves and showcase one of their outstanding, well-rounded members who signifies talent, confidence, class and excellence at its finest.

Contestants will participate in four rounds that showcase their talents, personality, improvising and speaking abilities, and K-State pride. The contestant with the most points at the end of all four rounds will be crowned Miss K-State 2013. Other contestants will be eligible for the Team Spirit Award, which is given to the group that earns the most points by supporting their contestant, and the Crowd Favorite Award, which is awarded to the contestant who has raised the most money the night of the competition.

Event T-shirts are available for $12. Each T-shirt qualifies for admission into the competition. There is a $3 admission fee for those attending without a T-shirt. Tickets may be purchased from any Delta Upsilon fraternity member, in the Union Program Council office on the third floor of the K-State Student Union, or at the event. All proceeds from competition entry, T-shirt and admission fees will go to the Delta Upsilon Global Service Initiative, or GSI. The initiative offers members a unique opportunity to engage in direct service in developing nations and the United States while uniting their actions with the principles of the fraternity.
