Submitted by Sue White

The K-State Gardens is hosting a 5k race and 1k Guided Garden Walk at 9 a.m. April 30. To register or learn more visit k-state.edu/rose-run.

Runners will enjoy a relatively flat, fast USATF-certified course that goes past Anderson Hall, the Student Union, Ahearn Field House and takes a lap on the track in the World War I Memorial Stadium. Walkers will learn about the Gardens' history, collections, specialty gardens and future projects that the race will help support. The rose garden improvements made possible by the Evergy Hometown Grant will be highlighted. The Insect Zoo at the Gardens will be open for free tours and there will be booths with information by groups and sponsors.

Medals for all participants and T-shirts to the first 300 entrants. Age/place winners will be awarded a purple ceramic pot with a live rose-shaped succulent plant. Teams of four runners are eligible for team awards. Rates go up on April 22.
