Faculty artists perform benefit concert for honorary music society

Submitted by Amy Rosine

Faculty Artists in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will perform a showcase recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, in All Faiths Chapel. Performers include Paul Hunt, trombone; Cora Cooper, violin; Colleen White, flute; Craig Parker, trumpet; Reg Pittman, tenor; Kurt Gartner, percussion; and Amanda Arrington, piano.

The Delta Lambda chapter of the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda, an honorary music fraternity, is presenting this recital to raise funds for student awards. In April, the music program presents the annual Honors Recital, featuring some of the best performers in the program. Each year Pi Kappa Lambda invites outstanding music students into membership based on academic and performance merit.

Pi Kappa Lambda also sponsors three awards each year: outstanding freshman, sophomore and senior. The freshman receives a certificate of merit from Pi Kappa Lambda, the sophomore receives a Harvard Dictionary of Music and the senior is gifted their lifetime membership to Pi Kappa Lambda.

The concert is free and donations are welcome to support student awards. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please contact Amy Rosine, secretary/treasurer of the Delta Lambda chapter.
