Panel to discuss 'The Russian Invasion of Ukraine: How we got here and what to expect next'

Submitted by Braylee Santana

On Feb. 23, Russian military forces invaded Ukraine. Why did this happen? How did we get here? And what comes next? Please join our panel as they provide key insights into some of the key events that preceded this crisis, what Russian war aims are, how the fighting is likely to unfold, and what we should expect to come next.

K-State's security studies program, along with the history and political science department, will host a panel on the recent events unfolding between Russia and Ukraine. The event, "The Russia Invasion of Ukraine: How we got here and what to expect next," will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, March 4, in The Ekdahl in Regnier Hall. Zoom connection is available for those who cannot attend in person.

The panel will consist of four K-State professors — Jeff Pickering, political science; Carla Martinez-Machain, political science; Vera Smirnova, geography and political science; Andrew Orr, history — as well as former K-State president and retired Air Force Gen. Richard Myers.

The panel will be a roundtable discussion, where members of the audience — both in person and through Zoom — will have their chance to ask questions and discuss their opinions with the panelists.

If you have any questions regarding the event, contact the security studies program at securstu@k-state.edu
