K-State senior speaks at AGC national convention

Matt Forbus, senior in construction science and management, was an invited guest speaker at the 2021 Associated General Contractors of America annual convention in Orlando, making the trip with 14 others involved in the K-State student chapter of AGC.

Forbus, who received the organization's Board of Certified Safety Professionals Scholarship earlier this year, spoke at the benefit gala for the AGC Education and Research Foundation, which supports the future of the industry through its scholarship program and innovative projects.

The K-State student chapter of AGC was well represented at the three-day conference, with 12 students and three advisors from the GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science making the trip to hear featured speakers and attend a variety of educational breakout sessions, in addition to networking opportunities.

Students attending included Ridgely Hatton, junior from Olathe; Ben Husband, sophomore from Goddard; Cade Holmes, senior from Overbrook; Caleb Reed, junior from Topeka; Carley Phelps, junior from Wichita; Collette LeManske, senior from Denver, Colorado; Drew Goddard, senior from Omaha, Nebraska; Dustin Williams, senior from Beloit; Kaleb Walton, senior from Olathe; Forbus, senior from Goddard; Sammy John Cervantes, senior from Greensburg; and Taylor Case, junior from Russellville, Missouri.

Attending were faculty members Steve Schaffner, instructor; Shannon Casebeer, associate professor; and Ray Buyle, professor and department head.
