Jacob Groshek serves as expert panelist in Reddit's Science Discussion Series
Jacob Groshek, Ross Beach chair in emerging media research and associate professor in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, served as an expert panelist in Reddit's Science Discussion Series.
The "ask us anything" panel featured the prompt that social media has never been a larger part of the sociopolitical landscape than in the last few years, and Groshek, along with three other invited expert panelists, responded to more than 50 questions regarding the impacts of social media on beliefs and behaviors.
Over a period of several hours on Feb. 18, this session fielded more than 350 comments and questions from a wide variety of Reddit users and moderators. Groshek was invited by the science moderator team based on his research on social media and politics, especially on misinformation and polarization.
