K-State to continue using existing policies to address budgetary issues

Submitted by Richard Myers

K-State Faculty and Staff:

The Kansas Board of Regents this week approved a temporary policy on suspensions, terminations and dismissals. This policy gives university chief executives the option (with board review) of suspending, dismissing or terminating employees without initiating the process of formally declaring financial exigency.

Kansas State University has no plans to use this option and will continue to address our serious budgetary issues through the shared governance model under existing policies. We will continue to work together to get through this trying time and emerge as a stronger university.

Thank you for your continued efforts to serve our students and our communities.

Sincerely,

Richard B. Myers
President
