Increased positive COVID-19 cases require precautions

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

As our university campuses work toward resuming more normal operations this summer and fall, all students, faculty and staff should remain aware of and vigilant in adhering to recommended safety practices.

Positive cases of COVID-19 continue to be found on campuses and in the surrounding communities.

The incidence of positive cases in the area can increase over time as social interactions, travel and other activities increase, and we have seen an increase in the number of infections in the Manhattan community in the last several days. It is critical to the wellbeing of our communities that individuals take precautions to protect themselves and others in the face of COVID-19. It is through a collective, cooperative effort that we can help protect our campus community.

Actions you can take to help protect our communities:

  • Wear a mask.
  • Maintain six feet of social distance from others.
  • Wash hands frequently and avoid touching face.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Regularly clean high-touch surfaces.
  • Avoid shaking hands.
  • Avoid mass gatherings.
  • Stay home if feeling sick or in isolation if exposed to a positive case of COVID-19.

Going forward, further updates and phased reopening guidance will be provided via the COVID-19 webpage. Please review this information to understand how you can help prepare for a return to campus. Also, see the CDC guidance for more information.
