Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Jusn Manuel Santos

Beginning with President Juan Manuel Santos' Landon Lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 4, undergraduate students will now be able to log their Landon Lecture attendance with K-State 360. After swiping in at the K-State 360 table, located in the foyer of Forum Hall, K-State students will be able to receive 100 points toward their K-State 360 account.

The Landon Lecture Series brings internationally recognized speakers to campus and offers students the opportunity to hear firsthand from world leaders who will share their insight on trending topics to stimulate new thought and encourage ongoing dialogue among attendees.

The series organizers are pleased to make the Landon Lecture Series part of the K-State 360 program.

Juan Manuel Santos, the former two-term president of Colombia and 2016 Nobel Peace Prize winner, will deliver a Landon Lecture at Kansas State University at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. The title of Santos' lecture will be "From Hawk to Dove."

In his lecture, Santos will reflect on his transition from hawk to dove. He will explain how he went from a war maker to a pacifier, a shift difficult to understand but necessary. He will expand on his philosophy: "Sometimes you need to wage war to make peace. I was a hawk because circumstances required it, but I always knew — as I said to the soldiers of our army — that the real victory, the only victory, the ultimate victory… was peace."

No tickets are required to attend this free lecture, and students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
