K-State teams place at regional student competition

Student teams from the Kansas State University GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science took part in the Associated Schools of Construction Region 4 2019 Construction Management Competition, Oct. 27-30, in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

This annual event included participants from 18 universities from the seven states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The 2019 teams from K-State competed in four divisions: commercial II, design-build, heavy/civil and specialty. The commercial II, design-build and specialty teams placed third in their respective divisions, and K-State was one of four universities whose teams placed in two or more divisions.

Commercial II division team members, coached by Katie Loughmiller, assistant professor in architectural engineering and construction science and director of the Associated Schools of Construction Region 4, were Dawson Borcherding, Chance Braun, Tyler Collins, Jackson Reilly, Alexis Susunaga and Sam Wohler.

Representing K-State in the design-build division was the team of Jordan Brunk, Randal Chushuk, Amy Nguyen, Eric Peterson, Dan Staudenmaier and Matt Voigt. Shannon Casebeer, assistant professor of architectural engineering and construction science, was their coach.

Heavy/civil team members, coached by Jim Goddard, professor of architectural engineering and construction science, were Patrick Davidson, Sam Haines, Evan Mills, Tim Munson and Tyler Neufeld.

Specialty team members, coached by Jongchul Song, associate professor of architectural engineering and construction science, were Maddison Jarman, Christopher Jungk, Sierra Pursell, Molly Scott, Sage Waltemath and Grant Wells.
