APDesign faculty member, alumni and students contribute to new landscape architecture book

Submitted by Thom Jackson

Katie Kingery-Page, associate professor in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design's landscape architecture and regional & community planning department, and Alpa Nawre, University of Florida, contributed a co-authored chapter titled, "Intent and Craft: Making refined drawings," to a recently released collection from Routledge press, "Representing Landscapes: Analogue."

The book is edited by Nadia Amoroso, University of Guelph, Canada.

The chapter includes a scholarly essay accompanied by illustrations of student design drawings by current students Grace Mader, August Titus, Haley Weinberg and Mackenzie Yeager, as well as Tim McDonnell, 2011 master's graduate in landscape architecture; Taylor Hiltgen, 2018 master's graduate in interior architecture & product design; and Aaron Church, Maggie Brennan and Rudy Prins, all 2018 Master of Architecture graduates.

Kingery-Page, whose scholarly inquiry focuses on the value of humanities knowledge for the profession of landscape architecture, describes the chapter as a treatise on why handmade drawings are still valuable to professional designers in the digital age.
