League of United Latin American Citizens presents Doris Alfaro Marquez
K-State's League of United Latin American Citizens, a registered student organization, will host Doris Alfaro Marquez, a Zapotec tribal elder from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
Marquez will share her story and how she overcame adversity from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Big 12 Room at the K-State Student Union.
Marquez has been a tireless cultural legal advocate for hundreds of Zapotec tribal members and is also a cultural performer. She and her son have performed throughout Mexico and internationally, presenting on Indigenous social organization, Indigenous music, dance, poetry and textile art.
