Graduate Student Workshop: Social Media Professional and Research Applications

Submitted by Jana Thomas

The Graduate Student Council will host a professional development event, Social Media: Professional and Research Applications, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union.

In this workshop, learn how to establish a professional social media presence for yourself and your research. We'll talk about how to get started, how to find and connect with others, and how to create engaging content.

Jana Thomas, graduate student in strategic communications, will lead the workshop. Thomas has 14 years of marketing, advertising and communications experience and owns a social media consulting company that works with brands and professionals across the country to create strategic social media plans. We also will be joined by K-State faculty and industry professionals who utilize social media for disseminating their research and connecting with professionals in their field.

Advance registration for this event is requested.
