College of Business Administration is seeking future ethical leaders for competition

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Students with the knack for doing what is right should register for the 2012 Phillips 66 Business Ethics Case Competition by Sunday, Sept. 9.

The competition is open to K-State juniors and seniors in any major. Working in teams of two to four, students will apply their knowledge of ethics and business to solve realistic business dilemmas. Scholarship awards will be presented as follows: first place, $1,000; second place, $750; third place, $500; and two honorable mention scholarships, $200.

Sponsored by the Phillips66 Excellence in Business Ethics Initiative, the competition is designed to empower students to deal with ethical dilemmas by providing hands-on business ethics learning activities to Kansas State University students.

"Students will be able to network with local business people, gain experience articulating their values and practice writing and presentation skills," said Olivia Law-DelRosso, program coordinator." Case competitions provide a valuable opportunity for students to work in teams on a realistic business ethics dilemma, preparing them to deal with similar circumstances in the future."

Round one will begin on Monday, Sept. 10, when teams will receive a business ethics case and submit a four-page report by Wednesday, Sept. 19. The top five teams will advance to the final round to present to a panel of judges on Oct. 4 at the K-State Student Union.
