KAWSE's GROW program hosting 140 middle school students at K-State Saturday

K-State administrators, faculty, staff and students will facilitate hands-on STEM activities for 140 middle school students from all over Kansas at KAWSE's Girls Researching Our World, or GROW, Out of This World workshop at K-State on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Thank you to the following facilitators who are generously spending their Saturday to provide so many students an opportunity to learn about STEM at K-State: 

  • David Auckly, professor of mathematics.
  • Axel Campos, student, Physics Club. 
  • Charles Carlson, doctoral student, Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
  • Angela Gearhardt, student, KAWSE Ambassadors. 
  • Jodie Ladner, student, Engineers Without Borders.
  • Stephanie Lee, graduate student, KAWSE Ambassadors.
  • Emme Mount, student, SUCCEED volunteer.
  • Rob Morrison, research entomologist, USDA-ARS Center for Grain and Animal Health Research.
  • Callie Rost, assistant dean for admissions, College of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Shelbi Sutterfield, research assistant, kinesiology. 
  • Karla Torres, student, Women in Civil Engineering.
  • Nicholas Wallace, assistant professor of biology. 
  • Josh Weese, teaching assistant professor, computer science. 

We also thank the Office of the Vice President for Research for providing National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program Training Grant funds to support this workshop.
