Graduate Student Council: Build Your Professional Network

The Graduate Student Council kicks off the first graduate student professional development workshop series of the semester at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, in 121 Eisenhower Hall.

The Building Your Professional Network event will feature guest speaker Rebecca Robinson, director of economic development for the K-State Institute for Commercialization. This event will focus on building and maintaining your professional network in various contexts.

Topics covered during the session will include:

  • Creating an online professional profile.
  • Utilizing social media to build your professional network.
  • Networking in person at conferences and other professional events. 
  • How to use business cards for networking.

K-State graduate students and postdocs who attend at least five professional development events hosted by Graduate Student Council during the 2017-2018 academic year will be recognized with a professional development certificate.
