College of Education faculty elected to national leadership role

Submitted by Deepak Prem Subramony

Deepak Prem Subramony, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in K-State's College of Education, has been named president-elect designate of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology's pioneering Culture, Learning and Technology Division.

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology is the flagship professional association within the field of educational technology.

Subramony's election represents the start of a four-year leadership sequence: president-elect designate, president-elect, president and past-president, each designation carrying its own unique responsibilities. The Communications and Technology Division is the nation's only professional grouping of its kind that focuses on the cultural ramifications of educational technology.

Subramony also has contributed a chapter, "Revisiting Instructional Technologists' Inattention to Issues of Cultural Diversity among Stakeholders," to the division's new book "Culture, Learning and Technology: Research and Practice" published by Routledge in 2017. This book represents the very first significant collection of research in this emerging field of study.
