The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art will unveil "Touch the Prairie," an interactive digital experience from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, as part of K-State's All-University Open House.

"Touch the Prairie" investigates the prairie through scientific data and artworks in the Beach Museum of Art's collection.

This interactive touchscreen program is created by artist/programmers Rose Marshack and Rick Valentin, working closely with Beach Museum staff, as well as collaborators from landscape architecture and regional & community planning, Konza Prairie Biological Station, and other entities at Kansas State University.

The interactive program, touchscreen and mobile display cart are made possible by a gift from Jackie Hartman Borck and Lee Borck.

"Touch the Prairie" is a project of Prairie Studies Initiative, based at the Beach Museum of Art. The initiative fosters the study of cultural and scientific dimensions of the prairie and awareness of the importance of grassland ecosystems. The initiative aims to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue among the arts and humanities, science, technology and engineering.
