Scott Jones to serve as acting Title IX coordinator and director of the Office of Institutional Equity

Submitted by News and Communications

University administration names Scott Jones as acting Title IX coordinator and director of the Office of Institutional Equity, effective Oct. 10. Jones has been serving as deputy Title IX coordinator for students and associate dean/director of nonviolence programs.

As Title IX coordinator, Jones is responsible to ensure university compliance with regulations, answer Title IX-related questions and address concerns and complaints of non-compliance.

"Scott’s experience in the Division of Student Life and knowledge of K-State's policies and procedures allow him to step right into this position," said Jeff Morris, acting vice president for human capital services. "We are fortunate he is willing to serve in this capacity and help move our institution forward."

Jones has served the university for more than 15 years. He has served as the interim director of the Office of Student Life; director of nonviolence programs; director of Greek affairs, now called Fraternity and Sorority Life; Interfraternity Council advisor; and an university ombudsman. He is finishing his doctoral degree in counseling and student development from Kansas State University. Before coming to Kansas State University, he worked at Oregon State University as a residence hall director and area coordinator; and assistant director of housing and at the University of South Dakota in Greek life.

Jones replaces Travis Gill, who resigned from the university to take a similar position in Texas. A national search for a permanent replacement will be announced in the future, Morris said.
