K-State Family Day is Sept. 19

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Kansas State University's annual Family Day, Sept. 19, will celebrate the long-standing tradition of family involvement on campus. Students will have the opportunity to show their families around campus and share Kansas State University traditions with them. Read a complete schedule of events.

"K-State’s 2015 Family Day will be the 87th year of this extremely special K-State tradition," said Cole Grieves, new student services assistant coordinator. "The weekend is highlighted by a variety of activities and events across campus designed to showcase the special connection between K-State, our students and their families. Ultimately, Family Day is a tremendous celebration of the K-State Family."

Two events, the legacy pinning ceremony and Family Time in Cat Town, are K-State Family Day traditions.

The legacy pinning ceremony recognizes the commitment of K-State families and friends across generations and concludes with family members pinning current students. Family members who are not K-State alumni will be honored with a K-Stater by Choice recognition for their support of the university. The brunch and program will be from 10-11:30 a.m. in the K-State Alumni Center ballroom. The cost is $15 per person and registrations are due by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. Questions can be answered by calling 785-532-2222.

Family Time in Cat Town is the annual pregame event, sponsored by Hy-Vee and Payless Shoesource, on the southwest side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The casual event begins at noon — two hours prior to kickoff of the K-State vs. Louisiana Tech football game. Students and their families may tailgate with K-State administrators and other families while enjoying great food, door prizes and the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win $2,000 toward tuition. The cost is $15 per person and registrations are accepted until 5 p.m. Sept. 11. Registration to the event is required to be eligible to purchase tuition raffle tickets.
