K-State named as American Concrete Institute Excellent University

Submitted by Mary Rankin

For the third year in a row, the K-State American Concrete Institute student chapter has been named an American Concrete Institute Excellent University.

The Award for University Student Activities identifies universities that qualify for excellent or outstanding status based on points received for participation in select American Concrete Institute-related activities/programs. Points are based on the number of student members at the university, university students serving on institute committees, university students/faculty attending institute conventions, presence of an active student chapter at the university, and local chapter participation in concrete-related industry meetings and events.

The university was recognized during the American Concrete Institute spring national convention April 11-15 in Kansas City. The recognition also will be featured in Concrete International magazine.

Chapter activities are a joint effort among architectural engineering and construction science, and civil engineering departments. Kimberly Kramer, professor of architectural engineering and construction science, is lead adviser for the group, and Katie Loughmiller, instructor in architectural engineering and construction science, is assistant adviser.
