The Manhattan Branch of the American Association of University Women was organized in 1920 and is one of the 1,000 branches nationwide. Today, the association has more than 170,000 members and is a premier organization for providing educational funding for women and girls.

When the Manhattan Branch was formed, it made a financial commitment to develop scholarship funds for women at Kansas State University.
