K-State Global Campus offering events for National Distance Learning Week Nov. 10-14

Submitted by Rosanna Vail

Kansas State University Global Campus is celebrating National Distance Learning Week Nov. 10-14 to help create awareness and celebrate the university's accomplishments and growth in distance learning.

"National Distance Learning Week provides us a time to celebrate online learning and what it has made possible for our distance students," said Jason Maseberg-Tomlinson, director of student and faculty services at K-State Global Campus. "This week allows us to focus on what we can do for students and faculty as well as share what we are learning with our university community. We chose to celebrate National Distance Learning Week to take part in the larger conversation about distance learning."

K-State Global Campus is offering several events and activities to celebrate the week.

Students or faculty can stop by a distance learning event booth on campus to find out more about taking or teaching distance options through K-State. The booth will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the food court on the first floor of the K-State Student Union.

Current or future K-State distance students can schedule an online video chat session with distance student services staff. They can ask questions about financial assistance and scholarships, degree programs, application requirements and more. The scheduled video chat will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Central time Thursday, Nov. 13. Participation in the chat is limited, so students should schedule a spot by contacting Maleah Lundeen at maleah@k-state.edu or call toll free at 1-800-622-2578.

K-State distance students can submit a short essay of 300 words about what K-State Global Campus has meant to them. One student will receive a grand prize $150 gift card from Varney's Bookstore. Essay submissions are due by Friday, Nov. 14.

National Distance Learning Week is sponsored by the United States Distance Learning Association. View a complete listing of events or participate in activities on the National Distance Learning Week website.
