Native American Heritage Month events
K-State's Native American Student Association is hosting three events as part of Native American Heritage Month.
TerryLee WHETSTONe, a Cherokee flutist, artist and tribal speaker, will give two free performances at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union. WHETSTONe's presentation is sponsored by Native American Student Association, Student Governing Association and K-State Alumni Association. He has performed at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City.
Monte Yellow Bird, a ledger style artist, educator and tribal speaker of Lakota decent, will give a presentation at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in Forum Hall.
The association's Three Sister soup and Frybread native food event with Lee Stumbling Deer Slusher, native flutist will be from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the International Student Center. There will be a suggested $5 donation to cover cost of the food.
