Dance Marathon fundraiser coming to K-State; student volunteers needed

Submitted by Nicole Fiorentino

Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 150 schools across the country, all raising money for the kids of the Children’s Miracle Network hospital in their community. Students spend a year fundraising and interacting with Children's Miracle Network kids and their families, all leading up to a huge event called Dance Marathon. This event is usually 12-40 hours of music, games, food and, of course, dancing. This day is totally dedicated to the kids. One day out of the year we help them forget about their sickness by throwing them a huge party while giving them the financial and emotional support they need.

K-State is the last school in the Big 12 to contribute to this nationwide philanthropy. The funds we raise will stay local and go to the kids at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

An informational meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. today — Sept. 2 — in 201 Leadership Studies Building.

We are still looking for students to fill various leadership spots within our organization, such as an entertainment director who help plan the event; a fundraising director in charge of planning fundraisers; recruitment and moral directors, who recruit people to attend the event; a family relations director, who directly works with the Children's Miracle Network families; and more. We are also looking for students who may not have as much extra time to spare but who would like to serve on these various committees.

Please contact kstatedm.execdirector@gmail.com if you would like to help our local kids.
