Schaeffer publishes social movements book

Submitted by Robert Schaeffer

Robert Schaeffer, sociology professor, wrote "Social Movements and Global Social Change: The Rising Tide," published by Rowman and Littlefield, 2014.

The book shows how social movements around the world have contributed to the rise of constitutional government in the republics, the democratization of republics, and the expansion of citizenries within the republics during the last 200 years.

"It explains how aspiring movements have fought to create republics and claim citizenship, how altruistic movement worked to assist them and why restrictionist movements fought to deny liberty to other groups and reserve citizenship for themselves," Schaeffer said.

This is Schaeffer's ninth book.
