Pretend holiday has real consequences

Submitted by Sarah Barr

The biggest pretend party in town is March 8. Be aware of a larger-than-usual police presence who will be looking for opportunities to enforce various city ordinances and state laws.

  • Minor in possession/minor in consumption of alcohol: Could cost $500 and include a six month ban from Aggieville. A conviction will cost you your driver's license for 30 days.
  • Fake driver's license: Just like an MIP, this one will cost you $500. It is also considered a crime of dishonesty so it might be a bit harder to explain when applying for a job.
  • Open container in public: No cups, bottles, cans, etc. containing alcohol on public property — streets, alleys, sidewalks.
  • Hosting — Keep your parties under control. Know your guests — and their ages, and be mindful of the noise or you could get a noise violation ticket as well.
  • Driving under the influence: If you have had even one drink, don't drive.
