President Kirk Schulz and Provost April Mason celebrate new programs at K-State Olathe

Dear Campus Community,
Things are moving quickly at Kansas State University Olathe. Our newest campus, which opened a year ago today, is introducing five advanced degree programs.
In addition to a master's degree in adult education — available for enrollment today — students will be able to earn a master's in food science, veterinary biomedical sciences, biological and agricultural engineering, and horticulture with an emphasis in urban food systems, as these programs are introduced at the Olathe campus during the next academic year.
These programs not only have successful track records, but they meet needs of the animal health industry in the animal health corridor and Greater Kansas City.
K-State Olathe promotes the mission set out by the Johnson County Educational and Research Triangle, which distributes funding to the campus. This funding is possible because the citizens of Johnson County support a 1/8 cent sales tax to increase the presence of higher education in their communities.
These five programs didn't spring up overnight. We wouldn't be here without hard work and collaboration across departments and campuses, and we thank those who labored to make these programs possible. Because of them we are closer to the goal of becoming a top 50 public research university by 2025.
We will be formally announcing these programs today at the anniversary celebration in Olathe. As these programs grow, we look forward to sharing progress with you.
