Scholarships and Awards for Incoming Freshmen

K-State offers a variety of university scholarships and awards available for eligible incoming freshmen from the state of Kansas. Your application for admission doubles as your general university scholarship/award application. As long as you meet the requirements and apply by the priority date, your scholarship or award is ensured.

The awards below are available for students entering K-State in summer 2024, fall 2024, or later and attending the Manhattan, Salina, or Olathe campuses.


Freshman Eligibility

You may only earn one general university scholarship or award.

At K-State, your best GPA (weighted or unweighted) is utilized in determining scholarship/award eligibility. Some awards also require an ACT/SAT score for consideration. See scholarship/award specific requirements below.

In State Freshman Scholarships

*If you are enrolled in a five-year program in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, you are able to renew awards for up to four additional years (five years, 10 semesters total).
*The deadline for K-State to receive ACT/SAT scores is Feb. 1.

Renewal Requirements

If renewal eligibility is met, the award may be renewed for up to three additional years (four years, eight semesters total). If you are enrolled in a five-year program within the College of Architecture, Planning & Design you may be able to renew your academic merit award for up to three additional years (four years, eight semesters total.)

  • Maintain a minimum K-State cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Maintain continuous, full-time enrollment for each fall and spring semester
  • Complete a minimum of 24 K-State credit hours for each academic year (fall/spring)

Competitive Awards

In addition to general scholarships and awards, the university offers numerous competitive awards. Competitive scholarship awardees are carefully selected by committees that review additional supplemental application materials and/or administer a selective interview process.

These supplemental applications are due by Dec. 15.

K-State Scholarship Network (KSN)

Once you're admitted to K-State, you'll have access to the K-State Scholarship Network, or KSN. A completed and submitted KSN application will automatically apply you for even more scholarships, including college/departmental awards.

Submit your KSN application by Feb. 1 for full consideration.

Scholarships and Awards for Incoming Transfer Students

Transfer students may also be eligible for scholarships and awards upon your admission to the university. Your application for admission doubles as your general university scholarship/award application. As long as you meet the requirements and apply by the Dec. 1 priority date for the spring semester OR Feb. 1 priority date for the summer/fall semester, your scholarship or award is ensured.

In-State Transfer Scholarships. College GPA of 3.5 or more is eligible for a Transfer Impact scholarship for $2,000 a year ($6,000 total). A cumulative college GPA of 3-3.49 is eligible for the Transfer 1863 Landmark Award for $1,000 a year ($3,000 total)

Renewal Requirements

If renewal eligibility is met, the award may be renewed for up to two additional years (three years, six semesters total). If you are enrolled in a five-year program within the College of Architecture, Planning & Design you may be able to renew your academic merit award for up to three additional years (four years, eight semesters total).

Phi Theta Kappa Award

If you are a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) member and designate that when asked on your application for admission, you'll also be automatically considered for the PTK Award.

K-State Scholarship Network (KSN)

A completed and submitted K-State Scholarship Network application will automatically apply you for even more scholarships, including college/departmental awards. Your KSN access is active upon admission to the university. Submit your KSN application by March 15th for full consideration.
