Atom Grants
Atom Grants provides an innovative, AI-powered platform that allows faculty and researchers to create customized grant opportunity searches that match current or future faculty interests. Unlike traditional keyword-based searches, researchers can now find relevant funding opportunities using natural-language descriptions of their research, including the ability to enter abstracts from existing papers directly into the search system. The platform automatically generates researcher profiles by analyzing existing public outputs and can deliver personalized email alerts on a preferred schedule, matching them to relevant funding opportunities. Additionally, powerful AI features assist throughout the application process by extracting key requirements, generating submission checklists, and automatically assessing eligibility criteria, ensuring researchers can focus more on their work and less on administrative tasks.

Getting started
Starting today, Monday, Aug. 24, a personalized Atom Grants email will be delivered to the inboxes of all K-State faculty, staff, and graduate students. Emails will come from “K-State Office of Research” at ovpr@send.research.ksu.edu. Access is also available now to anyone with a K-State email account. To sign in:
- Visit atomgrants.com/signin
- Enter your K-State email address, using eid@ksu.edu (not k-state.edu)
- You will be redirected to Single Sign-On (SSO) to log in with your K-State eID credentials
There is no additional cost to individual researchers — the institutional membership covers the entire K-State community as part of the university's ongoing investment in growing its research enterprise.
Training opportunities
Hands-on onboarding session to get your team up and running on Atom Grants. We'll walk through the platform together, cover key features such as grant discovery, researcher profiles, and saved searches, and make sure everyone feels comfortable using Atom day-to-day. Come with any questions or specific use cases you'd like to explore.

Atom Grants uses AI to match researchers with funding opportunities tailored to their areas of focus, reducing the time spent searching for grants and helping identify opportunities they may have otherwise missed.

Your research profile is how Atom understands you as a researcher: your positions, degrees, grants and awards, publications, and background, gathered into one place. Atom builds it for you automatically when you join, so it is working from day one. Together with your research interests, it drives the two things that matter most: how closely grants are matched to your work, and whether Atom can tell you are eligible before you apply.
Ways to further improve your results:
- Update profiles regularly: Add keywords, short descriptions, or full abstracts to help the Atom Grants semantic search engine find precise matches.
- Upload documents
The fastest way to make your profile complete is to hand Atom a document. Select Upload PDF on your profile, and Atom reads the file and merges the details into your profile, filling in history and awards you might not add by hand. You can do the same on your research interests, where an upload updates the interests that drive your recommendations.
Some documents work especially well:- Your CV or resume covers your positions, degrees, awards, and career timeline in one file.
- A research statement gives Atom a clear summary of what you work on.
- A recent paper or its abstract captures the topics and methods behind your best matches.
- Grant award notices fill in your funding history.
The platform is trained only on live, verified funding opportunities to eliminate noise or expired calls.
Atom automatically generates researcher profiles by analyzing publicly available information. To ensure the most accurate and relevant grant matches, we recommend that you periodically review and update the information in your profile.
