Minor Processing Changes for Fall 2011

In addition to the changes to the admissions application and related processes regarding Post-Baccalaureate Minors, the following Records procedures will be in effect for Fall 2011.

  1. The Admissions Application will be used for new and readmitted students when they are applying for a Post-Baccalaureate Minor. In all other cases, the processing of minors will occur through the "Green Forms" as is the current practice. This manual method of processing will occur during the Fall 2011 and the Spring 2012 semester or until which point it is automated.
  2. For any student seeking to graduate in Fall 2011 with a Post-Baccalaureate Minor, the Minor Program Director must coordinate directly with the Registrar’s Office Records Supervisor to process this application manually as the online application will be modified effective Spring 2012.
  3. Beginning in Spring 2012, it is expected that Minors Program Directors will approve the awarding of all Minors in the Graduation Work Area module in KSIS. It will be necessary to attend training for navigating this module, learning new KSIS minor codes, understanding the process for awarding a post baccalaureate minor for external degrees, and to be granted security access to the module. Training will be announced in late Fall 2011 or early Spring 2012.
  4. All Minor Plan codes in KSIS will be placed under a non-degree seeking program and the population of all active students (defined as currently enrolled or enrolled in one of the two previous semesters)with assigned minors which have not been awarded, will have their minor codes converted from a degree program to a non-degree program. No code changes will occur for students who have already been awarded a minor.

Students admitted to post-baccalaureate minors will be designated in KSIS with a sub-plan. This sub-plan will end in either "KS" or "EX":

  • KS – is or will be a K-State graduate prior to being awarded the minor
  • EX – is or will be an "External" graduate prior to being awarded the minor

Example: Nuclear Engineering Minor

If the student has received their bachelor’s degree from K-State:

  • Program: ENUND Engineering Undergraduate – Non-Degree Seeking
  • Plan: RNUEN Minor - Nuclear Engineering
  • Sub-plan: RNUENKS Post-Baccalaureate (K-State)

If the student has received their bachelor’s degree from somewhere other than K-State:

  • Program: ENUND Engineering Undergraduate – Non-Degree Seeking
  • Plan: RNUEN Minor - Nuclear Engineering
  • Sub-Plan: RNUENEX External Degree
