What is your earliest K-State memory?

My earliest memory of K-State is coming to tour the campus with my mom for my birthday. I have such warm memories of going to Aggieville, visiting ACME Gift and The Dusty Bookshelf, and walking across campus being amazed at how beautiful it was. I kept thinking, "Wow, it's like a college campus that you would see in the movies!" I am so excited to call this place home. My mom also really loved it here, and it was really important to me that she could also see me growing here.

Why did you choose K-State?

When my family first moved to Kansas in 2016 my mom told me she had a dream that I was going to go to "the purple school" for college. We are not native Kansans, nor do we have any family here, so we really didn’t know much about Kansas State University. I only applied to one school — K-State — and now I’m here!

How are you involved at K-State?

Most of my extracurricular involvement with the university is through my position in the Office of Student Life. I work closely with everyone in my office and others across campus. My first few semesters at K-State, I was in Student Governing Association as a College of Arts and Sciences senator as well as a member of the Black Student Union.

What has been your favorite K-State experience?

My favorite K-State experience is when Lute came and performed at the K-State Student Union.

How does K-State care for Kansans in your hometown community?

In Wichita, there are a lot of K-State alumni who are heavily involved in the community. K-State also makes it a priority to come to our local high schools to inform students about the university and all the amazing opportunities here.

Why do you want to bring K-State to your community?

I want kids like me know that there is a place where they can come to gain an amazing education with great opportunities while growing as a person in a community that will support them. I feel like I’ve found friends at K-State who have quickly become family, and I believe that K-State places a high importance on fostering those relationships that you form here.
