- Career choice as a child: I have always been fascinated by science. As a child, I loved watching shows about the universe, animals, and how things are made. In school, biology and geography were my favorite subjects, and I often read the textbooks for fun. While I did not have a specific career in mind, I knew I enjoyed working with people and solving problems. It was not until after high school that I began to see how these passions could shape my future career path.
- Favorite self-care practice: Self-care for me is about switching things up. Taking time out from the routine to do something different. I enjoy the outdoors, whether it’s going for hikes, gardening, biking, or meeting with friends. In Manhattan, my favorite trails are the Konza Prairie Nature Trail and the Washington Marlatt Memorial Park at Top of the World.
- Piece of advice for pre-professional students: "You rarely have all the information needed to make a decision. That is why it is important to seek guidance from mentors and advisors while also taking time for introspection and reflection on your strengths, values, and interests. While it is worthwhile to work hard, be diligent, and make sacrifices to achieve your goals, do not be too hard on yourself. Give yourself grace, learn from setbacks, and remember to live in the present as you prepare for the future."
