Understanding Parking Enforcement Timelines
Parking permits are required to park on the Manhattan campus. The enforcement times for these permits are as follows:
- Manhattan campus: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Residence Halls and Jardine Apartments: 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Parking Garage: 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday.
You must park in a designated lot corresponding to the permit you purchased. If you are unsure about your permit type, you can check your permit status and update your vehicle information through the Parking Portal.
10 Ways to Avoid a Parking Citation
A few simple parking habits can help you avoid a citation:
- Get a parking permit before parking on campus.
- Park in the lot that matches your permit.
- Make sure your license plate is visible and facing the driving lane.
- Backing into a space? Your vehicle must have a front license plate. Front plates are available for purchase through Parking Services.

- Don't park in restricted areas or spaces reserved for specific vehicles or permits.
- Keep driveways, crosswalks, and fire hydrants clear.
- Watch for temporary parking restrictions, especially during events or construction.
- Pay for metered parking using a debit or credit card or the HonkMobile app.
