Math professor Gabe Kerr wins Kansas Board of Regents award
Math professor Gabe Kerr was recognized by the Kansas Board of Regents with the Sunflower Award for Corequisite Innovation. The award recognizes Kansas faculty leaders who are advancing student access and success through the implementation of corequisite reform, and highlights faculty members whose work helps remove barriers to gateway course completion and strengthens students’ momentum toward degree attainment.
Rafferty and Albin named Faculty of the Week
Congrats to chemistry professor Ryan Rafferty and math professor Nathan Albin on being honored as Faculty of the Week at the Feb. 28 men’s home basketball game and March 1 women’s home basketball game, respectively. Selected by Faculty Senate caucuses, honorees are provided tickets to a home basketball game of their choice and recognized during halftime.
Chemistry Ph.D. candidate wins regional 3-Minute Thesis competition
Congratulations to chemistry Ph.D. candidate Vidya Nadar on winning first place at the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for her presentation, “From Rare Molecules to Real Medicine!” Last month, Vidya won first place (and People’s Choice) at the K-State 3MT competition, allowing her to represent us at regionals. Her mentor is Dr. Ryan Rafferty.
