Career Center names Anthony Ybarra director of career readiness
Kansas State University has named Anthony Ybarra as the new director of career readiness for the Career Center. Ybarra brings nearly two decades of experience in higher education, workforce development and employer engagement, along with a long-standing commitment to supporting student success and post-graduation outcomes.
Ybarra has served at the university since 2011 and most recently held the role of associate director at the Career Center. In that position, he co-led the university’s career readiness strategy, partnered with academic leaders to integrate career development across the student experience and oversaw employer engagement initiatives that expanded internship, employment and experiential learning opportunities for students.
He also played a key role in the execution of the All-University Career Fair, which connects more than 4,000 students with 360 employers each year and is one of K‑State's largest employer-engagement events.
“Anthony brings a strong background in advancing career development initiatives and a clear commitment to student success, making him an excellent fit for this role and for the continued growth of our efforts,” said Thomas Lane, vice president for academic success and student affairs and dean of students.
As director of career readiness, Ybarra will lead efforts to strengthen career development programs, cultivate employer partnerships and advance universitywide initiatives that prepare students for meaningful careers after graduation.
A two-time graduate of K-State, Ybarra earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in counseling and student development and a graduate certificate in academic advising.
His leadership and contributions to the profession were recently recognized with the 2025 Larry Hannah Career Services Director Award from the Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers.
