Free vehicle checks for students preparing to travel

If you are planning a summer getaway or a road trip between semesters, take a few minutes to make sure your vehicle is ready for the journey.

Parking Services is offering free vehicle inspections from 2-5 p.m. through Friday, May 15, on the roof of the K-State parking garage. Stop by to have your tire pressure, oil and coolant fluids levels checked and your windshield washer fluid topped off.

It’s also important to check your tires before a long trip. Ensure they are in good condition and properly inflated, and don’t forget to inspect your spare tire. Be sure you also have a jack and any tools you may need in case of a flat tire.

Depending on your vehicle’s condition and its last service date, you may also want to check the battery, brakes, lights and wiper blades. An oil change, fresh filters, and a quick inspection of belts and hoses can help prevent issues on the road. Many local mechanics and retailers can help with these services.
