Water-related poetry and art competition now accepting student entries
The Kansas Water Institute is celebrating World Water Day with a special evening of poetry readings, musical performances and art exhibits that highlight water and its impact on our lives. Students can make submissions now through Feb. 6 for a chance to win prize money and present their work at the Current Voices creative showcase.
Students should use the online portal to submit original poetry or 2D/3D artwork that reflect their perspectives on water. All entries will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges, and cash prizes will be awarded for the top entries: $250 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place.
The winners will present their work at the Current Voices reception on March 24.
Submissions are due by February 6. To be eligible for prizes, students must attend the event; however, students who cannot attend may still submit work for display.
The Current Voices reception — which will take place from 4-6 p.m. on March 24 in the K-State Student Union — is hosted by the Kansas Water Institute, the Department of English and the Department of Modern Languages. The free event is open to the public and offers the community an opportunity to engage with student creativity while highlighting the importance of water in everyday life.
