Inaugural One K-State Research Week: Celebrating discovery and innovation

The inaugural One K-State Research Week will showcase research, scholarly and creative activities that power student success, fuel innovation and deliver impact for Kansas communities and beyond.
Kansas State University will launch its first One K-State Research Week from April 17-24, celebrating the power of discovery, creativity and innovation to drive progress for Kansas and beyond. The celebration will spotlight how K-State's researchers, scholars and creators work together as One K-State to strengthen communities, industries and lives across the state, the nation and the world.
"One K-State Research Week is an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable depth and breadth of discovery happening across our campuses," said Hans Coetzee, vice president for research. "From laboratories to studios, from graduate seminars to undergraduate research projects, our faculty, staff and students are generating knowledge and creative works that improve lives in Kansas and around the world. This week allows us to come together and recognize that collective impact."
The week aligns with the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan by elevating research, scholarly and creative activities that expand educational access, advance teaching and learning, and generate solutions with measurable impact.
Week of events showcases research excellence
Signature events will include Research Connections, the Campus-Wide Undergraduate Research Symposium, the K-GRAD graduate research competitions and the School of Music, Theatre and Dance Honors Recital, among others. These events will bring together faculty, staff and students to explore ideas, build collaborations and experience how K-State research shapes the world around us.
Attendees will receive one chance to win a custom, framed Science as Art piece at each event they attend during Research Week by scanning the event QR code. All Science as Art pieces are created by members of the university or regional community to showcase the beauty of science.
The week's kickoff event will be the School of Music, Theatre and Dance Honors Recital on Friday, April 17, in All Faiths Chapel, where undergraduate and graduate music students will present juried performances that underscore the arts as a vital part of K-State's research and discovery mission.
Research Connections, hosted Monday, April 20, at the K-State Alumni Center, will spotlight faculty research, scholarly and creative activity from across the university and create opportunities for new collaborations.
An open house on Tuesday, April 21, at the Edge District will provide an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to engage with the Kansas State University Research Foundation and Office of External Engagement — Corporate Engagement teams.
Throughout the week, Graduate School-led events and showcases will highlight graduate students' disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects, demonstrating how advanced training prepares leaders to tackle complex challenges facing Kansas and the world.
Research Week will also feature expanded opportunities for undergraduates to present mentored research and creative inquiry, including the Campus-Wide Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, April 23 at the K-State Student Union. The Office of the Vice President for Research will recognize excellence with awards for graduate researchers, undergraduate researchers and student performers participating in the Honors Recital.
One K-State Research Week ties together research
By weaving together graduate education, undergraduate research, creative activity in the arts and cross-campus faculty collaboration, One K-State Research Week will embody the university's One K-State identity. The integrated week of events aims to connect campuses, disciplines and partners to create opportunities for all learners and to advance an inclusive, impact-driven research enterprise that serves Kansas and contributes solutions globally.
The Office of the Vice President for Research invites students, faculty and staff to join One K-State Research Week April 17-24 and experience how K-State research, scholarly and creative activities are transforming what's possible for Kansas and beyond.
